Dyfi Osprey Project

Unfortunately it was too icy to go on the track but still had a very enjoyable time. Will return when the weather is better.

On entering the carpark, I thought the place was closed, The area was untidy, with a derelict building and rubbish . The only thing that stood out was the amount of solar panels. The main building is lovely inside, there is a charge for entering (not sure if you have to pay this if you are only visiting the cafe). You can walk outside on a board walk across the marsh/grass land, we didn't as we were looking for somewhere to walk dogs, and they aren't allowed in here.

We visited out of Osprey season, but there are still lots of interesting things to see. The food in the café is worth visiting for if nothing else. The baked potatoes are something else, absolutely delicious and just check out the cakes. Wow!

We stopped briefly at the cafe for lunch not knowing what a great place this was! We would have loved to have stayed for a few hours and explored the stunning walk ways and scenery. The food at the cafe was lovely and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. A fantastic building with lots to see and great views for lunch.

A brilliant place to visit even in the pouring rain! We sat & had a coffee & cake in the cafe and watched the many different birds coming to the feeders - they even have a pair of binoculars & ID guides available. Service at the cafe was quick & friendly & there were gluten free cakes & oat milk available. There is a small gift shop in the reception area and entrance is free if you are just using the cafe / gallery. There is a disabled toilet and also baby changing facilities. You are not able to bring your dog into the building, but can have them on a lead outside. There is a very interesting gallery upstairs where you can watch the ospreys from a video feed, enjoy views of the reserve & find out more about the Dyfi estuary from some very good interpretation boards, plus see the amazing huge depiction of the Dyfi river made out of pre-decimal coins! From Sept 9 2024 the Osprey project becomes just a Wildlife Trust Nature reserve for the Winter, as the last of the Ospreys had migrated the previous week, but you can still see the recording of them on the video feed in the gallery. Parking is free and plentiful. We didn't walk out into the reserve due to the heavy rain, so I can't comment on that.

Stopped here on our way to north Wales and so glad we did. Such a good venue for getting close to nature in its true form, not in captivity. The centre is well laid out and has great visuals and information to understand the wildlife there, especially the ospreys. We were a bit unlucky in that the ospreys were not on one of their perches when we were there but we did catch a glimpse of one. Fantastic to know these birds are making a come back in the UK and you can see them here, as well as discover their history at this site. Alongside this we also saw other birds and lizards which the kids enjoyed. Wish we could have stayed longer. Reasonably priced entry and cafe serves good range of food at ok prices. All the staff were friendly, helpful and made an effort to help the kids see and understand the birds, adjusting scopes and answering questions. Would definitely recommend if you are passing or in the area.

An absolute diamond of a place. Truly fantastic. We saw so much wildlife. Lizards, many species of birds, snakes and of course the Ospreys. We are now huge fans. We cant wait to visit again in spring 2025. Sad to see some idiot (utube1) 5 days ago gave 1 star because they couldnt take their dogs in,How thick can you be to think that it's a suitable place for dogs? , that's the rules I'm afraid they won't change for you and your very important selves, the height of selfishness. truly deluded. it clearly states on the website why you can not take dogs .What is a dog getting from this experience? And they even compared their dogs to children, christ almighty! . .people don't want your dogs near a balanced eco natural environment and especially not where they eat. You can see from their previous reviews that they just use Google reviews to show how salty and horrible they are. Plz don't let the review from the thicko with the dogs change your mind about going, it's a stunning place and cheap entry, a must see! You're supporting a terrific cause.. I'm sure you can take your dog for a walk afterwards. We loved it as do 99.999% of other visitors.

We never got to experience the establishment because we were denied entry due to having our dogs with us. Despite assuring the woman at reception that they would be tightly controlled and kept on a lead at all times, it didn’t matter. I couldn’t help but think that if parents with children were refused entry in the same way, they might understand just how personally insulted we felt. We were told we could go around the back and use the cafe (but only outside, of course). My response to that: if my dogs aren’t welcome inside, then, I don’t want to give your even the slightest bit of business. Went to Glaslyn Ospreys yesterday, the dogs were not just welcomed they where fused over.

A fantastic few hours spent at this absolute hidden gem! There’s a lovely little gift shop, visitor centre and cafe. Free parking and loads of 22KW cheap (load balanced) EV Chargers are also provided. There’s HQ live camera feeds to the nesting sites on big screens in the visitor centre and up at the main observatory, at the far end of the site, where there’s also telescopes to get an even better look! The walkways across the site are all boarded, so you can visit safely in all weather. There’s pretty ponds with viewing points, so you can take in the beautiful scenery and wildlife at and surrounding the site. Staff are friendly and very knowledgeable which enhances an already amazing experience. Overall a superb place to visit, we will be highly recommending and coming back ourselves!

First visit and probably won't be the last! Lovely layout and an accessible layout for everyone to walk to the observation tower (flat planked walkways). Cafe inside the centre was pleasant and catered knowledgeably to allergies and intolerances.

What a wonderful place! Watching the mother protecting her 3 baby ospreys from a male intruder for about 20 minutes and then her mate showed up and saw the intruder off while still holding his fish that he caught for his young was breathtaking and a privilege to witness. I can't recommend this place enough.
